Terms of Use
Effective September 30, 2026
License agreement
The JotExpense iPhone app (the "App") is provided by Alvaro Rodriguez ("we," "us," or "our") and is licensed, not sold, to you. Your use of the App is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). The terms below add details specific to JotExpense. If anything here conflicts with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA controls.
Free and upgraded features
JotExpense is free to download. The free version lets you log up to 50 entries per calendar month. You can unlock unlimited entries with one of the following in-app purchases:
- Monthly subscription: auto-renewing, billed every month.
- Yearly subscription: auto-renewing, billed every year.
- One-time purchase: a single payment that unlocks unlimited entries and never renews.
Current prices are shown in the App and on the App Store before you buy, and may vary by country.
Auto-renewing subscriptions
- The monthly and yearly subscriptions may begin with a free 7-day trial, when offered.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, or when the free trial ends.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the same price unless we notify you of a change.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings on the App Store after purchase (on iPhone: Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions).
Refunds and restoring purchases
All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. To restore a purchase on a new or reset device, open the App, go to Upgrade, and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account. Purchases are not available through Family Sharing.
Your data
The information you enter belongs to you. It's stored on your device and, if iCloud is turned on, in your private iCloud account, as described in our Privacy Policy. We can't access or recover your data, so we recommend keeping iCloud turned on or exporting your data regularly.
Data loss
We work hard to keep the App reliable, but no software is perfect. The App may crash, contain bugs, or fail to save or sync your entries, and your device, iCloud, or an update to iOS or the App could cause data to be lost or corrupted. You are responsible for backing up your data, for example by keeping iCloud turned on or exporting your entries regularly. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alvaro Rodriguez is not responsible for any lost, deleted, or corrupted data, however it happens.
Not financial advice
JotExpense is a tool for recording and reviewing your own spending. It does not provide financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. You are responsible for your financial decisions.
Acceptable use
Don't use the App or this website in a way that breaks the law, interferes with how they work, or attempts to reverse engineer, copy, or resell them, except as permitted by the Standard EULA or applicable law.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The App and this website are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alvaro Rodriguez is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the App or this website. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
Apple
These terms are between you and Alvaro Rodriguez, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and of the Standard EULA, and may enforce them against you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date above. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, except where the Standard EULA or applicable law says otherwise.
